Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, or simply feeling stuck, counselling can provide a safe and supportive space to explore what's happening for you.
My approach is flexible and person-centred, meaning that our sessions are guided by what feels most important to you. We will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you, exploring your thoughts, feelings and experiences in a way that feels manageable.
As a person-centred counsellor, I believe that you are the expert in your own life and that, with the right support, you have the capacity for growth and positive change. My role is to walk alongside you, offering empathy, genuineness and acceptance, without judgement. My aim is to create a space where you feel heard, valued and able to be yourself.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
While person-centred counselling is at the heart of my work, I can also incorporate practical strategies from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) where this feels appropriate and helpful for you.
These techniques can help you understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and develop practical ways of managing particular difficulties such as anxiety or low mood.
Trauma-informed practice
I take a trauma-informed approach to my work, recognising that difficult or overwhelming experiences can affect how we feel, think, behave and relate to ourselves and others.
This means creating a space where you feel safe, respected and in control of what you choose to explore. I will never expect you to talk about something before you feel ready, and we can work in a way that feels manageable for you.
Together, we can find an approach that feels right for you and supports what you want to achieve from counselling.
